So, I recently bought Vegas Showdown and really wanted to try it out. The game calls for 3-5 players but sometimes it's just hard to get three people together. So, I checked out the variants on BGG and sure enough found a link to an official 2-player variant on the Avalon Hill website. Sweet!
Anyway, Becki and I decided to try it out Sunday night and let me tell you it was awesome! The game uses a dummy player that bids on slots and premier rooms every turn. The dummy players bid is determined by a dice roll so there seems to be an increased luck factor which leads to some frustration (Becki was outbid by the dummy several times). Despite the luck we still enjoyed it a lot and actually played it again on Monday. Becki smoked me both times so I'm really looking forward to another showdown so I can attempt to show her up!

I played this over at Sam's one time. I can't say I was completely thrilled with it, but I'd give it another go or two before making up my mind.
I've only played the 2-player variant so I really don't know what the "real" version is like.
That said, any game I get Becki to play with me is an awesome game!
i think it's a GREAT game that people often overlook because of the theme and the very "american" look...
i've really enjoyed it every time i've played it, with any number of players, though i've never tried it with 2.
i've played it MANY times...
Eric and I played this on Saturday. I think we both decided it's a little more random with the added dummy player.
I still like it though because, like I said before, Becki will play with me and THAT is a rare thing indeed.
